Entry 4 - Manar
[This picture represents the expression 'the sky is falling. Macbeth's life has fallen apart and the end is near.]

Dearest journal,

Loneliness is Death's only companion, of that I am certain.

I am now but a quiet observer in this most unsettling game. Good Malcolm, for he deserv'd that name, has won the favour of England. Macbeth shall fall, of that I am certain.

Instruments of darkness console him - none of woman borne can kill Macbeth. Ah, the tyrant knows not that dearest Macduff was untimely ripped from his mother's womb. There is hope for Scotland, and I hope with all my heart, for dearest Fleance. I know not where my son has fled for I am bound to the castle where the fiend dwells. It matters not if my son bears a crown; only his health and happiness can warm this cold, lifeless heart.

To think I once called Macbeth friend and held him close to my heart, the very same his men stopped so untimely. Do his cruelties have no end? Does he not wish the blood would wash from his hands like his wife? Oh tyrant! He had the babes and wife of noble Macduff murder'd like lambs to the slaughter.

Though most tragic, Macduff may, in his grief, seek vegeance for their good souls (may they find heaven) and cure poor Scotland of her disease. The disease which calls itself Macbeth. Macbeth! None serve him in love for he has no love under which to serve.

All have abandoned Macbeth except those bound to his crown. Even his wife has abandoned life in her madness. You have all but none. Have we eaten on the insane root that takes the reason prisoner? Reason too has abandoned your mind, poor tyrant. I laugh at thee now for the wyrd sisters, albeit their knowledge of things best left unknown, spoke of my person, now dead, being happier still than you, oh great king of Scotland.

A messenger came bearing most terrible news for the tyrant - delightful for those who rejoice in the triumph of light over the darkness fallen over our sickly country. The woods have begun to move. Justice is upon Scotland to-day.

Oh Macbeth, go you hence! Fie, the flames of Hell dance brightly in welcome of its newest guest!

The gates to Mercy have long since closed for you, old friend.

I remain,

In Death,

Banquo

The World is Darker - Neverending White Lights

"The World Is Darker" by the Neverending White Lights is a song about betrayal, loss, and the darkness found in Man's heart. Banquo has faced all of those things in both life and death, all at the hands of Macbeth. Banquo trusted Macbeth, only to be stabbed in the back; "watch your heart if you're back is bleeding". Those closest to us are often the ones to do the greatest harm. "The heart is dark but the world is darker" speaks of how Macbeth, though evil, was also shaped into his cruelty by the prophecies and his ambition - by the world or what he perceived it to be.

1) HorsePlay Niagra: As mentioned in the play, Banquo enjoys riding, especially with his son Fleance. He would visit this site to find scenic trails to ride with Fleance as well as other activities to do with his son.

2) Sword Academy: Being a soldier, Banquo would have been skilled in the art of fighting and if he were living today, he would be an ideal instructor at the Sword Academy. Also, he would have wanted his son Fleance to hone sword fighting skills, and enrolled him.

About Me

I bore the name Banquo whilst I lived and when I was fellow soldier and friend to Macbeth. I was loyal to noble Duncan who Macbeth murdered, and I too was eventually disposed of. I am now a ghost caught between Life and Death. I dearly love my son Fleance and pray he is somewhere safe.

Loyalty
ACT 1, Scene 3
And oftentimes, to win us to our harm,
The instruments of darkness tell us truths,
Win us with honest trifles, to betray us
